Current Event Project Requirements
Each student will be expected to present one Current Event project each semester. The following is a brief explanation of the project:
Each student is to choose a current topic. (news events, places, people, medicine, discoveries, natural
wonders, technology, etc. … please no celebrity gossip or sports scores) Students are to choose a
topic that interests them and research that topic. Students should use current news topics to research.
Requirements:
_____ Presentation/Length/Visual Aids (60pts)
Students will present their topic to the class. Each student’s presentation should reflect thorough
research and preparation. It is not acceptable for students to simply read a report from a piece of
paper. Students are welcome, however, to use note cards or an outline to assist them. Students need to be prepared to answer questions at the conclusion of their presentation. Students may choose what type of visual aids to use, but the addition of at least one is required. (powerpoint, prezi, pictures to put on the document camera, props, etc. Be imaginative!)
_____ Poster (30pts)
Students are required to create an informative poster about their topic. (standard sized poster board)
These will be hung on the wall for the entirety of the next week so that students in my other classes can
learn about the topic. Students need to put a great deal of effort into these to ensure that they look
nice and are informative. *Please note that pictures should have captions.
_____ Bibliography (10pts)
All students must turn in a bibliography, in which they properly cite at least three sources (these need to be three content sources, not just pictures).
Please note that Wikipedia is not an acceptable resource for this project.
