This week in social studies:
Monday:  We will examine the development of feudalism in Europe.  Assignments:  Questions to guide reading, and notes for Ch. 9.  We will also review vocabulary for Ch. 9 and Ch. 10.
Homework: None

Tuesday:  We will use a strategy called Write It-Say It while viewing a Discovery short video on Life during the Middle Ages.
Homework:  None

Wednesday:  Ch. 9, Lesson 2 Daily Life during the Middle Ages guided reading questions. Students will closely read for information.
Homework:  Complete guided reading questions if not completed in class.

Thursday:  Current event presentations.  Examine the steps to knighthood. 
Homework:  Knights and Knighthood worksheet

Friday:  Social Structure of the Middle Ages video and questions.
Homework:  None

Week of Jan 21-24

This week in social studies:

Tuesday:  Using a reading strategy called, "read around the text" students will identify what they will be learning about.  They will create a 6 square organizer for the strategy.
Homework:  Study for Europe physical map test Wednesday.

Wednesday:  Europe physical map test.  Define all vocabulary for this next unit of study.
Homework:  None

Thursday:  Ch. 9 teacher directed notes.  Review all vocabulary, and guided reading questions will be assigned.
Homework:  Complete questions.

Friday:  Current event presentations.  Video: Social Structures of the Middle Ages.
Homework: None

This week in social studies:

Monday:  Meet in Lab 171 for MSIP survey.  Research Medieval Life using Http://www.medieval-life.net and create a visual showing an aspect of daily life.
Homework:  Europe countries/capitals quiz tomorrow.  Complete visual of Medieval Life.

Tuesday:  Europe countries/capitals quiz.  Review Europe map for test on Thursday.
Homework:  Study for Europe map test.

Wednesday:  Character Ed schedule. Desk map activity to review for Europe map test on Thursday.
Homework:  Study for Europe map test.

Thursday:  Europe map test.
Homework:  None

Friday:  Current event presentations.  Medieval Europe vocabulary strategy.

Week of January 8-10

Welcome back after a long weekend:)

Wednesday:  Label a map of western Europe including capitals, and bodies of water.
Homework:  Study countries and capitals for quiz on Friday.

Thursday:  Complete labeling Europe maps.  Western Europe map crossword puzzle.
Homework:  Crossword if not completed, and study for countries/capitals quiz tomorrow.

Friday:  Countries/capitals quiz over Europe.  Review map with Smartboard activity.
Homework:  Study Europe map. Test next week.

Welcome back!  Exciting news!!  My first grandchild was born this week! What an amazing feeling:)
I hope you had just as great a break as I did.  I will not be at school Thursday or Friday, so work extra hard and show your best character for our substitute.  Have a great rest of the week.

Thursday:  Analyze the Bushido Code by breaking down the characteristics of being a Samurai.
Homework:  Make sure you have all of your notes and any worksheets from our Japan Unit.  Open book test tomorrow.

Friday:  Japan open book test.  You may use your notes as well as any other papers we have done, and your textbook.  If you do not complete the test, you will have an opportunity to finish on Monday.
