Summer School Announcement

Students and parents, this is a reminder for those students attending summer school.  The summer school office will not be mailing schedules.  Students and parents can now visit the summer school site and print schedules which will include room numbers and teachers’ names.   Please be sure your students have their printed schedule in hand when they arrive for summer school June 2.  If your students need assistance with printing their schedule, please encourage them to see their counselor.

Monday:  End of Course exam in computer lab. 
Homework:  Study for comprehensive social studies final on Thursday.

Tuesday:  Final exam study guide.
Homework:  Study for final on Thursday.  Get study guide signed.

Wednesday:  Review for final exam.
Homework:  Final Exam on Thursday.

Thursday:  Final exam.
Homework:  Fieldtrip to OC tomorrow!! Bring a lunch, bathing suits, towels.

Friday:  Field trip to the Ozark Community Center!!

Week of May 12-16

This week in Social Studies:

Monday:  We will analyze the Mayan Civilization through using the textbook as a resource and answering critical thinking questions.
Homework:  Mayan Civilization questions if not completed. Quiz over the Mayan civilization on Wednesday.

Tuesday:  We will trace the development of the Aztecs by reading an article on the city of Tenochtitlan.  We will also take notes.
Homework:  Mayan Civilization quiz tomorrow.

Wednesday:   Mayan Civilization quiz.  We will critique the rise and fall of the Incan Empire by using the textbook as a resource. 
Homework:  Guided reading questions if not complete.

Thursday:  Review Mesoamerica by completing a venn diagram for each culture.
Review for EOC semester exam.  Exam on Monday, May 19th.
Homework:  None

Friday:  Current event presentations.  Review for EOC on Monday.

Week of May 5-9

Map Testing this week!

Monday:  Map testing- English Language Arts.  Enlightenment quiz re-takes.  DBQ self-evaluation.
Homework:  None

Tuesday:  Map testing- Writing.  Maya and Aztec video using the strategy "Write Something/Say Something" for notetaking.
Homework:  None

Wednesday:  Map testing - Math.  Complete video and notes.
Homework:  Cultures of Latin America - due Monday, May 12th.

Thursday:  Comprehension questions over Mayan people.  Read the story, "The Hero Twins" and write answers to questions using constructed response.  Class discussion of why this story is important.
Homework:  Cultures of Latin America - due Monday, May 12th

Friday:  Current event presentations.  Maya powerpoint using a note-taking strategy for background information.

Wednesday:  Review South America map.  Assignment:  Latin America Map Activity using the classroom atlas.
Homework:  South America Map Quiz on Friday.

Thursday:  Review for South America map quiz on Friday.
Homework:  Study for South America map quiz.

 Interim Progress Reports were given out today!!! Get signed by a parent/guardian.

Monday:  Scientific Revolution and Exploration Unit Test
Homework:  None

Tuesday:  Introduce new unit, Enlightenment using the literacy strategy, draw/label/caption.  Students will identify all terms and names for unit.
Homework:  Complete all vocabulary

Wednesday:  Grade Map Skills practice Lesson 1.  Students will view a video using the strategy, Write something/Say something as a note-taking skill.
Homework:  None

Thursday:  Enlightenment powerpoint and notes.
Homework:  None

Friday:  Current event presentations.  Vocabulary study guide assigned.
Homework: Enlightenment vocabulary quiz on Monday.
