Course Description: Computer Applications is a hands-on, skill-oriented course designed to give students basic typing skills, basic computer operations.


Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to:

• Demonstrate correct posture, hand position and keyboarding.
• Demonstrate proofreading, editing, formatting skills, and file management while producing a variety of personal and business documents.
• Demonstrate basic word processing and presentation software skills using Google Basics, Prezi, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrate proper use of the internet & online resources.
• Use Edmodo for online work as well as Google.

Distribution of Grades: Students will be given opportunities to earn points by satisfactorily completing the following activities: keyboarding lessons and daily work as stated within the objectives. A final technology project will also be done.


Classroom Expectations: In order to protect and preserve the condition of our computer equipment, no food, drink, or candy is allowed in the computer lab. Leaving your workstation neat and clean in also expected. Please refrain from defacing the equipment or changing the computer settings. It will be considered vandalism of school property and will be dealt with according to the student handbook.


Supplies needed for class:

Every day the student is expected to come to class with the following materials:
• Pen or pencil and a folder.
• Student Planner WITH your internet card* attached.

*In order for the student to use online resources for classroom projects, the student must have an Internet card. To obtain an Internet card, the Internet Usage Agreement needs to be signed and returned to the Library Media Center. A copy of this agreement is in the back of the student handbook. Lost internet cards are replaced at a cost to the student of $1.
